FTP FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. It is
a file transfer client application that allows you to transfer files between
your local computer and a remote FTP server. By using FTP, you can connect
to Columbia server, browse through directories and files, and transfer
files (upload or download) in either direction. Every CU students has
20mb disk storage space
in Columbia University server. Please note that 20mb
disk storage space is also used to store your e-mail storage
space. Therefore, you may only use up to 20mb
to store your e-mails, files, and web pages. You could now put your personal
document or home page up on the Columbia University server. (cunix.cc.columbia.edu)

Do you know that all the CCTE students
have server space on SandBox? If you don't have a disk with you, you may
save it in the SandBox. CCTEsandBOX host the following web applications which can be utilized by students: Java, Java Script, PHP, ASP & MySql.

All Columbia students are eligible for AcIS computer accounts which provide e-mail and access to the Internet. When you create an AcIS computer account, a Cunix ID is also created for you. Each basic account will have 20mb disk storage space to store your e-mails, files, and web pages. If you still haven't activate your account or you want to change your password, go to the Columbia University web site-Computing and E-mail section to activate your e-mail (AcIS) account. This tutorial will cover different methods of sending and recieving e-mails. Internet interconnects thousands of public and private networks worldwide today. The interenter browser is simply a software for browsing information on the Internet. There are two major browser installed in ILT- Interent Explore and Netscape. Both application allows you to surf on the internet.
